Dear grandma, great grandma, and all the mothers before.
I can only imagine the struggles you faced. The difficulties you encountered.
I look at your pictures, the deep sadness in your eyes. The stories absorbed and buried. To survive. To protect. To live.
I let this go. This no longer serves us. It no longer needs to cover. To bury. To hid.
The clash between property and wealth. That wound too, healed. I no longer carry this, replay it or live it. I release the hold, the idea, the need to live within the poverty mindset. The desire to honor one over the other. To shame one over the other. To justify. To wear it as a badge. I let go of the idea that everything must be a struggle. You fought hard, thank you. Relish in the peace you now have. Delight in knowing, we are creating better. I choose wealth. Not just financially, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
This thread that connects needs to be healed. There are other threads that bind, that thrive. Lust for life. Desire to achieve. The power of being a woman. Pride in being a woman. The gift of being a woman. All of you strong, fierce fighters. Thank you for your strength and tenacity. We are linked by name, a name I own with gratitude, pride and love.
I thank you for your sacrifices. The horrors you endured so I can be here.
Thank you for traditions, Welch and British.
Grandma, thank you for Mexico. Bringing those traditions and a love of their culture to our family.
I am grateful to you.
You live through me. Through my daughter.
With love and gratitude,
Margaret
